Stolen vehicle investigation leads to 2 arrests, weapons and cash seized

ORANGEBURG, SC (WACH) - Officers with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office have arrested two men, seized four weapons and nearly $25,000 in cash.

Reshawn L. Shuler, 25, and Lewis Dontrell Shuler, 19, on various charges, according to authorities.  Reshawn Shuler faces drug charges for allegedly possessing marijuana and ecstasy. He is also charged with receiving stolen goods with $10,000 value or more. He also faces charges for altering the vehicle identification number, which violates the Chop Shop Act of the South Carolina Code of Laws. Lewis Shuler faces drug charges for allegedly possessing ecstasy.

According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, Officers were at a home on Old Number Six Highway investigating a Cadillac Escalade, currently registered in 4 states with an altered vehicle identification number, that was stolen from Atlanta in March.

Ravenell says Reshawn L. Shuler allowed officers into the home to conduct an investigation in reference to the automobile. Once inside, officers saw narcotics and a weapon in a bedroom.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and discovered more than two pounds of marijuana, three additional weapons, $24,973 in cash, 20 Ecstasy pills, and other items associated with narcotic activity while executing the warrant, according to the sheriff's office.

Reshawn Shuler is in custody as of Friday morning with bond set at $200,000. According to the investigation report, he knowingly and intentionally possessed the stolen Escalade.

Bond was set for Lewis Shuler Thursday at $20,000. He has been released on bond.
