COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - Heavy rains may have created a big mess along Bull Street Wednesday night, causing a brick wall to collapse right into the road.

Around 10 o'clock Wednesay night, a roughly 200 foot section of  brick wall in front of the old state Mental Health building crumbled right into the street.  It is believed the ground was so saturated by heavy rains over the past few days that the structure simply gave way.

As of midnight, the outbound lane along that section of Bull Street was only open to one lane of traffic.

There is no word on damage estimates.
