SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WACH) - One man is dead after a single car incident Monday morning.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 33-year-old driver of a 2005 Crown Victoria lost control of his vehicle while traveling west on Highway 378 near the Wateree River Bridge around 9:50 a.m. Monday.

Trooper Brent Kelly says the car ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident is under investigation.
