COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Investors may soon be getting back some of the millions they entrusted with a South Carolina trio that is currently serving decades in prison for a scam.

Receiver Beattie Ashmore says he has asked a federal judge for permission to begin paying about $19 million to thousands of investors.

In 2010, Joseph Brunson and Timothy McQueen and Tony Pough (pyoo) were sentenced to prison. The men known as the "3 Hebrew Boys" were also ordered to repay $82 million in restitution.

The three were convicted in 2009 on dozens of charges. Authorities say the men claimed they could make amazing returns in currency markets but actually invested less than $1 out of every $10,000 they were given, spending the cash on themselves.
