Festival box open ahead of Spoleto event

CHARLESTON (WACH)- The box office is officially open for one of the world's major performing arts festivals.

The Spoleto Festival USA is 17 days of historic art, theater, and performances, this is the 36th season for the event.

The box office opens Monday at the Gaillard Municipal Auditorium in Charleston. There are no handling fees for performances for the internationally known arts festival if tickets are bought at the box office.

This year's Spoleto will light up stages in Charleston from May 25 through June 9.

Highlights of this year's Spoleto include the American premiere of the Philip Glass opera "Kepler," a concert by vocalist k.d. lang, and the return of Dublin's Gate Theatre.
