AIKEN COUNTY, SC (WACH) - A young man from Wagener died in a two car accident Thursday night.
Chase Ray, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near the intersection of New Holland Road and Gunter Pond Road in Aiken County, according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
The crash occurred just before midnight Thursday.
Carlton says Ray was wearing a seatbelt.
According to the report, Ray was driving a 1994 Honda Civic north on New Holland Road when a 1995 Ford F-150 pick up truck failed to stop at a stop sign.
The pick up truck struck Ray's vehcile on the driver's side door and trapped in the vehicle.
The 19-year-old female passenger in Ray's vehicle was seriously injured, and transported to Palmetto Richland Memorial hospital in Columbia by a helicopter, according to carlton.
Authorities say the driver of the truck said that his accelerator malfunctioned.
The conditions of the driver and passenger in the truck have not been released.
The crash is under investigation.
