Investigators say Timothy McCain tried to sexually assault a woman in her home early Thursday morning.
KERSHAW COUNTY (WACH)-- Kershaw County deputies have arrested a man they say tried to rape a woman in her home early Thursday morning.
According to investigators, 36-year-old Timothy McCain of Westville, broke into a home near Fletcher Drive. Sheriff Jim Matthews says McCain used a step ladder to reach a window which he broke to get inside the home.
McCain reportedly attacked the lone female occupant of the house by throwing her on the bed and placing a pillowcase over her head.
Sheriff Matthews says the victim fought back so hard, McCain ran away.
It only took about 30 minutes for the department’s bloodhound tracking team to find McCain. They say they located him hiding in another home he had broken into, undetected by that home’s occupants.
This isn’t McCain’s first time he’s been in trouble with the law. Matthews says McCain already had warrants out for him because he owes more than $35,000 in back child support. He is also wanted on a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office warrant for a criminal domestic violence charge. Previously, McCain has been arrested and convicted for armed robbery, failure to stop for blue lights and DUI.
McCain is currently in the Kershaw County Detention Center. He’s charged with burglary and attempted criminal sexual conduct.
