BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) -- When firefighters rescue a pet from a tree, it's usually a cat. But a dog has been rescued from a tree on the South Carolina coast.

The Beaufort Gazette reports firefighters on Monday rescued Cappy, a long-haired dachshund from a tree at the Beaufort National Cemetery.

Mimi Austin looked for hours Sunday evening and neighbor Kim Bonturi joined the search when she saw Austin's plea for help on Facebook early Monday. Bonturi has four dogs and says she would not have been able to sleep if Cappy wasn't found.

Searching the cemetery near their homes, police stopped and asked what the women were doing. An officer shone a light in a tree and spotted Cappy who was then brought down by the fire department.
