COLUMBIA, SC -- Columbia's Jewish community is getting a historic honor.
City officials along with the USC School of Music and the Opera-Tunity Foundation announced the first ever Week of Remembrance Friday morning. It will be a seven day tribute starting April 15.
Activities scheduled include concerts, lectures, multimedia presentations and visual arts. It is all to honor Jews killed during World War II.
Bluma Goldberg is the last living Holocaust Survivor in Columbia. She said the Week of Remembrance will further educate people on the horrors that thousands of Jews suffered.
"Some people do not believe that anything like this happened. That is why we have the memorial for Holocaust survivors. Hopefully this will help. I am very excited about it and I hope more people will come."
