COLUMBIA, SC -- Midlands residents got a chance to look at energy of the future Friday.
The Edventure Children's Museum hosted its annual Engineering Day. It featured professors and students from USC showcasing how fuel cells work.
Students displayed a car and a segway being run on hydrogen fuel cells, as well as other solar and water projects. Fuel cells can generate electricity from several sources.
Experts like Cindy Buckhaults say it will be used more in the future.
"Fuel cells are a very renewable and ecological friendly source of energy. You can fuel them from different sources including solar, including water. As gas prices rise, people are looking for more alternative energy sources. Fuel cells are gaining in popularity."
The students will also be back at Edventure Land Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to display robots.
