Lexington,SC (WACH)- Lexington County deputies seize a mobile Methamphetamine lab.

Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) deputiesseized a mobile clandestine methamphetamine on Monday. The laboratory  was set up in a stolen blue 2001 pickup truck that Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies recovered at a residence on Peachtree Rock Road near Lexington. Officers charged a 26-year-old Gaston man with setting up the mobile methamphetamine laboratory inside the truck.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said officers arrested Keith Wayne Kirkland, 26, of Gaston, on charges of second-offense manufacturing methamphetamine and possessing a stolen motor vehicle. Kirkland was being held on Tuesday, April 3 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.

An arrest warrant says Monday officers found Kirkland to be in possession of the stolen 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, which contained components that are used to operate a mobile methamphetamine laboratory, Metts said. The mobile methamphetamine laboratory was found behind the driver’s seat inside the truck.
Deputies received information from the West Columbia Police Department that Kirkland had been seen driving the stolen 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck in the Lexington community, Metts said.
Deputies went to a residence where they knew Kirkland frequently spent time, Metts said. Officers found the stolen 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck parked in front of a camper.  Deputies found Kirkland in the camper and arrested Kirkland without incident.

The 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck was reported stolen to the Sheriff’s Department at 3:43 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, Metts said. The truck was stolen from a fenced-in area at the rear of Performance Strength Designs, Inc. in West Columbia. The truck is owned by the owner of the business.

Metts asks anyone with information about illegal drug activity in Lexington County to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site www.lexingtonsheriff.com.
