CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -- Two men from Georgia and South Carolina died after a rally to honor Vietnam veterans at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Authorities say 66-year-old Alan Richard Mockus, of Alto, Ga., and 71-year-old Thomas Franklin Hollingsworth, of Piedmont, S.C., died at local hospitals following the Saturday wreck.

Mockus' wife, Deborah, was still hospitalized for injuries from the crash.

Authorities are still investigating the wreck but say the two motorcycles collided near one of the steepest banks on the track.

The crash happened shortly after a gathering that attracted thousands of people attended a day-long Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration. The free event was sponsored by the USO of North Carolina, the N.C. Association of Broadcasters and the Speedway.
