ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- A Rock Hill man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for using a fake bomb to rob a bank.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports that 49-year-old John Burchfield Jr. was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to the robbery and possession of a hoax device.

Police say Burchfield confessed to making a fake bomb from a cellphone and wires wrapped in a box. Authorities say he went into the bank and told employees he had a remote detonator for a bomb.

No one was hurt in the robbery, and police say Burchfield left the bank with nearly $1,800. He has prior burglary convictions in Illinois.
