Here is your Good Day Columbia GDC Morning WACH for 3-22-12:
With another day of spring ticking in, we decided to talk about tanning, as folks all around the Midlands prep their “bathing suit bods” with crunches, diets, and of course, a golden brown tan, we took an indepth look at the ups and down of the golden glow.
Even with an estimated 5,000 new cases of skin cancer in the last 2 years, did you know that 25 million American’s get their bronze on each year, 10 minutes at a time?
There are many studies on the subject, both for and against the practice. For instance this information from the SKINCANCER.org
Dr. Michelle Welch, of Lexington Dermatology joined us to talk about the dangers of UV rays in general, encouranging the use of sunscreen even when playing on the lake or sports. You can see her time with us HERE.
Patrick Mooney, owner of Beaches Tanning Club talked about the positive side of tanning, including the practice of moderation. You can see his thoughts and tips HERE.
Tyler decided to take the show on the road, and head to Blades for a spray tan to see if you can really get your color on, without the long term risk. Check out the spay tan adventure HERE.
Jarid Munsch also went out and hit the streets taking an unofficial straw poll…the pulse, if you will, of the Midlands on the issue. Check it out HERE.
