COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department is looking for a suspect wanted for committing two armed robberies last Thursday.

Sheriff Leon Lott says the first robbery occurred around 9:48 p.m. Thursday at 743 Hazelwood Road. An unkown suspect approached a male victim as he sat in his car in the Hazelwood Party Shop parking lot. The suspect presented a gun, stole the victims' wallet and fled the scene.

The second robbery occured two hours later around 11:45 p.m. Thursday at 7844 Garners Ferry Road.

A female victim told deputies that she had just retrieved her money from the AllSouth Federal Credit Union ATM when the suspect pointed a gun to her head and grabbed her left hand. The victim said she stepped on the gas pedal and left the ATM. She went to the hospital because of pain in her hand. She suffered two fractured fingers where she was grabbed.

Lott says that surveillance video equipment and witness information shows that the unknown suspect committed both armed robberies.

The department is requesting the community's assistance in identifying the suspect who is described as a black male, approximately 6-feet-tall, approximately 140 pounds, possibly between 18-25 years old, last seen wearing a green shirt with bold writing and dark pants.
