COLUMBIA, SC (WACH)-  In the early afternoon on March second, friends and family of South Carolina Hospitality Association  president and CEO Tom Sponseller gathered to remember one of the heavyweights of his industry.

Sponseller was found Tuesday morning after having gone missing for two weeks.  Columbia Police say Sponseller died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head.

The Columbia Police Department has been criticized for taking two weeks to find Sponseller when he was found in the same buliding garage Sponseller was believed to have gone missing.
