Kayla Raiford was found dead in her backyard Monday night.
AIKEN, S.C. (WACH) - An Aiken woman was found dead in her backyard Monday night.
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton has identified the woman as 54-year-old Kayla Raiford.
Raiford was discovered in the backyard of her home on Horry Street in Aiken by a family member around 8 p.m. Monday.
Raiford had what appeared to be a gun shot wound to her body, and a weapon was found near her body.
Neighbors reported hearing what sounded like fireworks near Raiford's home around 6:30 p.m.
Aiken Public Safety and the Aiken County Coroner's Office are investigating the case.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday in Newberry.
