ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- An self-employed Anderson County man has been charged with tax preparation fraud.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reports that 45-year-old Christopher Tyrone Lee has been charged with 12 counts of preparing fraudulent income tax returns, four counts of tax evasion and one count of obtaining properties by false pretenses.
The state department of revenue accuses Lee of preparing tax returns for his clients that included $123,000 in false deductions for employee business and medical expenses, charitable contributions and fake business losses.
Lee faces up to five years in prison for each of the felony tax charges if he is convicted, in addition to up to $47,000 in fines.
It was not clear if he has an attorney.
