MARINE CORPS AIR STATION BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) -- Marines at Air Station Beaufort are hosting a family day to give spouses and children a behind-the-scenes look at how the installation's air squadrons prepare for a deployment.

Marine Corps spokesman Lance Cpl. R.J. Driver says Friday's scheduled events will give family members a chance to sit in on a pre-flight briefing for the members of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251.

Family members also will have a chance to attend landings and takeoffs that help the unit's F/A-18 pilots and aircrews train for actions at sea while the unit is deployed on board an aircraft carrier.

The day comes as part of the unit's preparations for a deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
