Girl Scout Cookies will be on sale at various local retailers through March 23.
COLUMBIA (WACH) - Friday will be extra sweet this week with Girl Scout cookies going on sale at various local retailers.
Beginning Friday, Feb. 24, those who missed the door-to-door sales last month or those who just cannot get enough of the tasty treat can take the cookies home upon purchase.
The price remains the same as last year at $3.50 per box.
Girl Scouts from the Mountains-Midlands council will be out in full force each weekend through March 23.
A few of the participating stores include BI-LO, K-Mart, Lowe's, Sam's Club, and Wal-Mart.
Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., a non-profit organization comprised of women whose children served or are serving in the military, partners with the council to send donated boxes of cookies to soldiers overseas.
Last year the Girl Scouts of South Carolina-Mountains to Midlands sold approximately 1.8 million boxes of cookies and 49,000 boxes went to the Cookies for Soldiers program.
100 percent of the proceeds stay in the council after vendor costs and help underwrite troop activities and expenses, girl programming, camperships, member assistance, program development, training opportunities and girl-focused property improvements.
