GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- The Greenville County coroner's office says a woman found dead in a fire at her home in Taylors had been shot in the head several times.

The body of 63-year-old Alice Barber Owenby was found in her burned home Tuesday morning.

Deputy Coroner Barry Wright says Owenby's death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy determined the woman had been shot.

Sheriff's spokesman Zach Hinton says investigators are trying to identify a suspect in the death.

Hinton says a car from the home was found several miles away several hours after the fire.

Taylors Fire Chief Bobby Baker says the roof of the house was gone by the time firefighters arrived at the home.
