Columbia, SC (WACH)- A Columbia woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a house fire.
Fire department spokesman Brick Lewis says Columbia-Richland fire crews were called to the home on Morninglo Drive around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts is withholding the victim's name until relatives can be notified.
Officials say the woman was the only person in the home when the fire occurred.
Damage is estimated at $26,000.
According to Richland County coroner Gary Watts, the woman died of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning from the fire.
Lewis says the cause of the fire is under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious.
