ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WACH) - Images of clothing worn by the man found in a wooded area in Orangeburg two weeks ago have been released by the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell released images today of the hooded jacket and basketball shorts worn by the male victim whose remains were found Jan. 20 off Five Chop Road in Orangeburg.
A hunter located the remains of the African-American male and contacted the Sheriff's office.
Even after an autopsy, officials have not been able to identify the victim.
“We believe this individual is between 17 and 21 years old and was between 5 foot 7 and 5 foot 9. He was wearing what we believe is a distinctive jacket, black sweat pants, basketball shorts that were worn under the sweat pants, and camel Timberland boots. We are releasing the photos of the John Blaze jacket that had lettering around the hood “Cash Rules Everything Around Me” and basketball shorts in an effort to generate new leads as to the individual’s identity. Anyone recognizing this jacket or shorts should contact us immediately," said Ravenell.
“We have been in contact with several agencies across the state as well as passing along the information we have to out-of-state agencies, so far we have not matched our victim with any existing missing person reports. It is imperative that anyone who recognizes these clothing items that were worn by a person that has not been heard from in several months to contact us so we can continue our investigation into how this man came to be in Orangeburg County.”
