COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - The suspicious package found at a Columbia Post Office Friday morning turned out to be a hoax.

The Post Office, located on Greence Street in Five Points, was evacuated as a precaution.

Authorities were notified around 10:15 a.m Friday.

According to police, a postal worker called 9-1-1 after seeing a "suspicious" package inside the facility.

The Columbia Police Department received assistance from the Columbia Fire Department, SLED, and the US Postal Service.

The package was x-rayed to determine its contents once it was secured by a robot.

According to Alexis King with WACH, a controlled explosion occured near post office building.

No one was injured.
