AIKEN, S.C. (AP) -- More than 1,000 police officers and hundreds of others have gathered in Aiken for the funeral for a South Carolina officer killed last weekend.

Services for Master Cpl. Sandra Rogers were being held Wednesday afternoon at the University of South Carolina Aiken Convocation Center, with burial at Historic Bethany Cemetery in downtown Aiken.

Rogers died Saturday after she was shot while responding to a suspicious activity call. Joshua Tremaine Jones has been charged with murder.

Rogers had been an officer with the Aiken Department of Public Safety for nearly 28 years.

Another officer, Scotty Richardson, was shot to death during a traffic stop in December.

Jones also is charged with killing his ex-girlfriend, Cayce Vice, in Augusta Ga., before the officer was killed. Her funeral was set Wednesday.
