NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- North Charleston police and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service are again investigating the cold case death of a sailor that occurred 24 years ago.

Authorities say the body of 24-year-old Beth Ann Cameron was found in some woods in North Charleston on New Year's Day, 1988. After a review of the evidence, authorities are collecting DNA samples from a number of people for comparison with evidence left at the scene.

Cameron was from Alabama and was assigned to the submarine tender USS Holland.

She was last seen about two weeks before her death near an apartment complex close to where her body was found.
