Here is your GDC Morning WACH for 1-30-12:

Lots of fun with video this morning, up first, the wild ride we showed you HERE.

The video came from I-81 in Dauphin County PA, where the car is seen flying down a snow covered median, catching some air, and almost heading into oncoming traffic.  According to witnesses, they thought the driver was running from police, but it turned out the 61 year old woman was having a diabetic emergency.

Did you see the very irate Boston Bruins fan that attacked the Tampa mascot?  It seems that silly string was the final straw for both the fan and the person playing the mascot.  He got kicked out, and she got fired.  Check out the incident HERE.

And we are not done there…how about this “super shot” by Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks.  After getting into character, he scored a goal using a superman move, his glove, and stick.  This one is hard to explain, so just check out the video HERE.

We told you about the new partnership between DPS and Subway restaurants, creating awareness about the dangers of teenage texting while driving.  Teens can sign the virtual pledge HERE.

Gas prices are all over the map around the Midlands, and of course, you can always check out our interactive map right HERE to see where the cheap stuff is in your area, but regardless of a few cents here and there, ever sit and think about how much people pay every year for petrol?  According to Forbes, it’s over $4000 in some cities…in fact, the biggest guzzlers of gas are not too far from Columbia.  A link to the story is right HERE for your viewing pleasure.

Christy Sequin joined us for her weekly Get Fit, Stay Fit segment that you can catch right HERE.

Lila Sauls from St. Lawrence Place joined us to talk about the annual 5K Race for the Place, which benefits St. Lawrence Place on February 11.  You can get details on the race HERE. You can see her time with us on the show HERE.

Local singer-song writer Kevin McIver joined us on the show, talking about his debut CD "Closer," which contines 5 original songs.  You can learn more about Kevin on his site by clicking HERE.  And since you asked, HERE is a link to his time with us on the show

So who does the car buying in your house?  It seems traditional that men like to play the role of car buyer, after all, men and cars go hand in hand, right?  It turns out that the fellas can learn something from the ladies when it comes to buying or leasing a car!  We, of course, want to know what you think about that…we posed the question on our Facebook page for you to get into the conversation.  Check it out HERE.

As always, GDC is looking for your input!  Please send story ideas, if you are in looking for exposure for a community event you are involved with, or would like a cast member to speak at your civic group, school, or activity, EMAIL us!  We are part of the community!!
