Here is your GDC Morning WACH for 1-24-12:
A lot of conversation this morning about winning the lottery. According to an Enzine article, 805 of lottery winners are broke within 5 years. Is it because people forget that 40 percent to 50 percent of the money won goes to taxes, and people over spend in their mind, only to find they have less money than they thought? And let's not forget the Blythewood couple that won $200K, and want to keep it a secret from their kids. We, of course, want to know what you think. On our Facebook page, we are asking about what you might do with the winnings, and how you would plan to hang onto your new found wealth. Get into the conversation HERE.
Morgan Fields from the Celebrate Freedom Foundation joined GDC to talk about the annual Celebrate Freedom Festival, held at Finlay Park on April 21. This year's theme is celebrating "Women in Service to our Nation." You can learn more about the festival, the foundation, and how you can be a part of both, HERE. You can also see Morgan's time on Good Day, check it out HERE.
We had a very special performance today from Tokyo Joe's Greg Bickley, who also heads the Rocketman: A Tribute To Elton John show. Each year Greg, as Elton, performs as a fund raiser for the Nancy K Perry Children's Shelter, earning $17,000 in the 2011 show. This year, the show is scheduled for January 28th at the Koger Center. Tickets are available on the Koger Center website. If you missed the Rocketman's performance, you are in luck! You can catch one of the breaks HERE.
As always, if you have a story idea, or are involved with a community event you would like to tell us about, EMAIL us! The Good Day Crew is also available to speak at your civic club, event, or school!
