ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- Rock Hill police say they arrested a mother after her 13-year-old son told officers she got him drunk.

Investigators said the boy's father called police early Sunday morning and told him his mother let him drink until he got drunk.

Officers say they went to the boy's home and his speech was slurred and he smelled like alcohol when they woke him up. He was taken to the hospital.

Police say Julie West was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. It wasn't clear if she had an attorney.
