Lexington County deputies are looking for a man accused of trying to kidnap a young girl Friday evening.

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – Lexington County deputies are looking for a man accused of trying to kidnap a 9-year-old girl. 

The girl was playing with friends outside her home on Charleston Highway near West Columbia Friday evening around 7:30pm.

According to Sheriff James Metts, the man stopped driving and tried to pull the girl into his car.

Witnesses described the man to deputies as white or Hispanic, with light colored skin, weighing 170 to 190lbs.

His height is between 5’10 and 6 foot. He has dark hair, with a crew-cut haircut and was wearing eyeglasses.

Witnesses also described his car as a four-door older model sedan, gray or blue, with the driver’s side window taped.

The car’s paint also appeared chipped or faded.
