CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The young friends of a 5-year-old girl who was shot and killed at her Charleston home have raised enough money to double the reward for information in the unsolved case.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that two boys, ages 9 and 6, pooled cash from their piggy banks and chore money to contribute to the reward. With help from their father, Richard Douglas, they matched the $1,000 reward for information in the killing of Allison Griffor.

Griffor was shot in the head while she was sleeping at home on Oct. 25 when someone fired a shotgun during an apparent home invasion. The child's father was also wounded.

Douglas says his sons wanted to do something for the friend they played with nearly every week.
