COLUMBIA (WACH)—The Columbia Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Rosewood Family Dollar.

A police spokesman said that officers were dispatched just after 8:30 pm to the store for a reported armed robbery.  According to witnesses, the suspect entered the store, armed with a gun and demanded money.  Early information, however, indicates he ran out of the store before taking any.

According to police, witness reported that the suspect is a light skinned black male, and it is “possible” that he is between 5 foot 6 inches and 5 foot 7 inches tall, wearing a black hat, black jacket, khakis, and a blue bandana.

Citizens are urged to contact Crimestoppers with any information at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
