COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- Tripp's Fine Cleaners have been collecting coats to keep those in need warm.
Throughout the month they distribute coats to local shelters and other organizations.
Christmas Eve they opened their store in Five Points for people to come and pick out the coats they need.
This year is their 16th annual Coats for Kids, and over 16 years Tripp's has collected over 24,000 coats for children and families.
Tripp's accepts gently used winter coats, cleans them and repairs minor damages, then makes sure they get to someone in time for the Winter season.
After 16 years of having Coats for Kids, owner Tripp Penninger is never let down by the community and their help.
"Columbia's a great community and people here really care about the people that need help in this community. It's a testament to how much Columbia cares about the people that live here," Penninger said.
