Bond denied for K-9 shooting suspect

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - Bond has been denied for a man accused of shooting and killing a Richland County K-9 deputy. 

Maurice McCreary is being held in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on five counts of attempted murder, two counts of armed robbery and one count of killing an identifiable dog.

McCreary was the subject of a massive manhunt early Friday morning.  Police say he shot at a convenience store clerk on Monticello Road in Columbia.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says McCreary shot "Fargo" three times as the dog grabbed hold of him during the police pursuit.

McCreary was taken into custody without incident, after police found him hiding in a shed near Barony Drive.
