COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH/AP) -- A Columbia ordnance limiting three unrelated people per house, unanimously upheld by the South Carolina Supreme Court Monday.
The ordinance was challenged by Peggy McMaster, wife of former state Attorney General Henry McMaster.
Mcmaster took the issue to high court after being issued a zoning violation by city officials who found 4 unrelated USC students living under one roof.
Mcmaster said that the ordinance stopped her and other landlords from renting to whomever they wanted.
The SC Supreme Court sided with Columbia officials, who said zoning laws allow them to keep order in neighborhoods and ensure massive amounts of students don't descend on neighborhoods.
