GAFFNEY (WACH-AP)—Gaffney Police are investigating the death of a man found in a field.
According to GoUpstate.com, police responded to the shooting at 4:10 p.m., and found a man the Cherokee County Coroner identified as Trey T. Montgomery.
Montgomery was transported to the Upstate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the Cherokee County Detention Center, Steven Oliver Beam Jr.of Shelby, NC has been charged with murder in the incident.
The case remains open, and an autopsy has been scheduled.
Sgt. Knox Blanton said Beam was expected to make a first court appearance Monday. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
