COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Four teens who pleaded guilty earlier this year in the beating of another teen in Columbia have been placed on probation.

The teens were also ordered to avoid using social media.

Eighteen-year-old Carter Strange was beaten by a group of youths on June 20 in Columbia's Five Points neighborhood.

Family Court Judge Leslie Riddle sentenced three 17-year-olds to probation until their 18th birthday. A 13-year-old was placed on probation for two years.

They were also placed on house arrest for three months and ordered to avoid the victim and his family.

They had pleaded guilty in September to failure to report a crime. Police say the teens had waited by their cars the night four other teens attacked Strange.

The other four suspects are awaiting trial.
