COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Richland County deputies are teaming up with several area businesses to help some seniors have a brighter holiday.

Sheriff Leon Lott says the Richland County Sheriff's Department's Project HOPE is working with Home Instead Senior Care, Chick-fil-A and Pink Sorbet to provide gifts to seniors who might not otherwise get any presents this holiday.

HOPE stands for Helping Our Precious Elderly. Lott says anyone can stop by the sheriff's department, take an ornament from a tree there and return the unwrapped gift to either the Bush River Road Chick-fil-A or Pink Sorbet by Dec.13.

Volunteers will wrap the gifts and deliver them later that week.
