Serving "Tastes of Fall" to Columbia loacals in Earlwood.
COLUMBIA S.C. (WACH) – Locals were invited Sunday to Taste Fall foods straight from the ground.
The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department, Gordons Garden, The Platinum Pomegranate, and the Orangeburg County Young Farmers and HighHeel HomeMaker gathered to put on an event called the Taste of Fall.
They provided a spread of Fall inspired foods, and some dishes came straight from the community garden in Earlwood neighborhood.
The Earlwood community garden was established in March and has been bringing together those with "green thumbs".
President of Earlwood Neighborhood Association Fred Monk says, "But really what it's done is brought a lot of different people together. You know everybody thinks about, you know, I'm going to grow my tomatoes, or peppers, or whatever people are growing, but really what it grew were relationships and partnerships."
The garden currently has 41 raised garden beds and Monk added that they are hoping to get 9 more.
