COLUMBIA (WACH) --  Who’s been naughty and who’s been nice.

Some non-profit organization officials across the Palmetto State found out if they made a good grade when it comes to their charitable programs.

Wednesday Secretary of State Mark Hammond announcing the states ten angels and ten scrooge charities.

Those named as angels were selected because 80 percent or more of its total expenses went towards charitable programs.

Those named as scrooges failed to spend a high percentage of its collections on supposed state programs and activities.

A Midlands organization named Camp Discovery at His Acres was among the ten named as an angel.

“We are a therapeutic recreation program and we provide services during the school year not in the summer for children in children homes, public schools, afterschool programs, counseling centers and we use recreation as a way to teach tools for life,” says Donna Johnson, Camp Discovery at His Acres.

Charitable programs who file to solicit programs in South Carolina must submit a budget report at the end of the year with Secretary of State's office. Organizations from other states can solicit programs in the state as well.

This is how the secretary can determine how much money was spent on the actual charitable program.
