COLUMBIA (WACH) -A man well known for his contributions to local TV stations and their communities has been named to the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame.
Jim Yager, CEO and Co-Founder of WACH Fox's parent company, Barrington Broadcasting, was recently named to the prestigious hall of fame for his work involving television news over the last fifty-plus years.
Mr. Yager says he believes that local TV stations have a unique place in the community, something larger markets simply don't have.
"We really are in touch with the community, the legislative process, our congressmen and senators. You know you are the voice for those people." Yager said in an article in the The Business of Television. "Television is still exciting to people in our communities; all you've got to do is go to lunch with one of our anchors to see it."
Barrington Broadcasting owns and operates 24 stations across the country, including WACH Fox and WPDE in Myrtle Beach. Yager remains heavily involved in the operations and planning of both the South Carolina stations.
Mr. Yager has worked in the television industry for more than 50 years, including serving twice as the chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters.
The WACH Fox family congratulates Mr. Yager on his achievements.
