ORANGEBURG, SC (WACH) -- Orangeburg County deputies have seized 4 automatic weapons and marijuana during an undercover narcotics investigation.
Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says officers made a drug purchase at Southland Apartments and obtained a search warrant after the purchase, officers seized an AK-47, TEC-9 with a silencer, a 9mm handgun and a .25 caliber handgun. All weapons were loaded when deputies located them.
Officials arrested 5 people at Southland Apartments Luther Green, Jasmine Matthews, Cristyon Evans, Treasuree Brabham and Levon Wells. Deputies also arrested Christopher Henderson, Lurine Brown and Lamar Curry in another drug investigation.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says "These individuals possessed some powerful weapons and ammunition capable of great bodily injury or ending the life of a young person far too soon. I am grateful these weapons are off the streets of Orangeburg County and will not cause any family significant grief."
