COLUMBIA (WACH)-- Columbia-Richland firefighters were called to Summit Parkway Middle School Monday evening after a fire broke out at the school .

Officials say when they arrived there was a fire in one of the classrooms.  Crews were able to put the flames out, causing damage to one classroom

Chief Aubrey Jenkins said the fire was caused by "some debris left on a stove".  He adds damages are estimated at roughly $75,000.

A spokesperson for Richland School District Two says Thursday classes will not be impacted by the fire.

Offcials say the fire was accidental and there was one person in the school.  No one was injured.
