COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A company that makes ultraviolet light components plans to put $20 million into an expansion of its Columbia operations.
Sensor Electronic Technology Inc. said Monday that the expansion will create 150 new jobs.
The company now has a 15,000-square-foot facility with 68 employees. It will add 5,000 square feet and said it could grow to 130,000 square feet.
The company makes light emitting diodes, or LEDs, that are used for disinfection, health care, monitoring the environment, as well as by the military and NASA and in research and drug development.
Chief executive Remis Gaska says Sensor Electronic has seen rapid growth and needs more manufacturing capacity.
