SUMTER (WACH) -- South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents arrested a Sumter man Tuesday on sexual misconduct charges.
Corey Farmer, 33, is charged Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor with a victim 11-14 years of age.
According to arrest warrants and affidavits, on October 7 Farmer engaged in sexual battery with an 11-year-old girl.
The arrest comes after the Sumter County Sheriff's Department requested that SLED investigate the case.
According to the South Carolina Legislature Crimes and Offenses a person convicted of this type of crime faces up to twenty years in prison.
Farmer was being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
He has a court date set for January 9, 2012.
