CHAPIN (WACH) -- Lexington County Investigators need your help in finding the person or persons responsible for killing a Chapin man at his home over the weekend.

Authorities say 50 year old David Kent Cannon died from several gunshot wounds to the stomach area.

Investigators say this shooting was not random and that Cannon may have known his shooter.

It all happened at 304 Meadowlark Road.

Authorities believe Cannon was shot sometime Friday morning and was found by two of his friends when they stopped by the home.

“It appears that he was shot at the front door. We theorize he probably opened the front door just to let someone in and when he opened the door, he was shot and killed,” says Sheriff James Metts, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Tuesday investigators say they'll be out in the neighborhood passing out flyers in hopes that someone can come forward with some information about the murder.
