RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) – The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the community’s help identifying the people responsible for car break-ins in the Ballentine, White Rock, and Chapin areas of Richland and Lexington Counties.

According to Sheriff Leon Lott, between September 16, and October 21, several car break-ins occurred in the Forty Love Point, Foxport and Lakeport communities in Richland County.  Sheriff Lott says the suspect is forcing entry into the cars and stealing guns, laptop computers and I-pads. Sheriff Lott adds that the suspect appears to be a white man approximately 6 feet tall and of slender build. The incidents happened between 2:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.

One of the incidents was captured on surveillance video.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and Richland County Sheriff’s Department are working together to identify those responsible for the car break-ins.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
