Duke Energy official to speak at USC Thursday

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A Duke Energy vice president is coming to the University of South Carolina to talk about modernizing the country's electric power grid.

Duke Energy Senior Vice President of Power Delivery Jim Stanley will be at the university's Swearingen Engineering Center at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. He oversees the utility's electric transmission and distribution system in North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.

Stanley's speech will also touch on the leadership attributes needed to bring a company's long term plans to reality.

Stanley's visit to the university is part of a partnership with Duke Energy called the Executive-in-Residence program.
