RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) -- Deputies have a man in custody who, they say, tried to rob a bank and then led officials on a car chase Wednesday.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department arrested 23-year-old Jabriel Jones after responding to a bank robbery call at the TD Bank on Farrow Road around 5:21 p.m.

Employees told investigators the suspect gave a note to the teller demanding money.  He then fled without taking any money, but dropped his drivers' license during his escape.

A detailed description led deputies on patrol to locate Jones driving on Broad River Road.  A chase broke out that led officials back to Farrow Road where they recovered a gun from the vehicle.  It's unsure if the gun had any connection to this crime.

Jones is charged with entering a bank with the intent to steal money and failure to stop for blue lights.  He is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
