COLUMBIA (WACH) -- It’s what you see on the shelves of grocery stores like Kroger and Publix.
Thanks to a partnership with an educational organization schools across the state will soon have free pasta.
“Mueller's is offering every public school in South Carolina enough spaghetti for one spaghetti night per school year,” says Trip DuBard, South Carolina Future Minds, Executive Director
South Carolina Future Minds spearheaded the move.
Officials say any public school in the Palmetto State is eligible as long as they use the donated pasta for a spaghetti night.
Officials want to use the pasta night as a way to get parents, students and teachers together to build support for their school.
Company officials say each participating school will receive at least 200 pounds of pasta which is valued at about $250 per school.
“This is the first year that we've done this so I hope that Mueller's will stay with this,” says Dubard.
So far about 26 schools across the state are taking advantage of the program that number includes ten schools from the Midlands.
